Ahmadinejad arrives in Bolivia

STORY: Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrived in Bolivia on Tuesday (June 19), starting his Latin American tour which will include a stop in Brazil for the Rio+20 summit.
The controversial Iranian leader was met by Bolivian President Evo Morales. The two heads of state are expected to discuss bilateral issues - including energy resources - and look at strengthening cooperation between the nations.
Ahmadinejad descended from the plane wearing a handmade indigenous Bolivian bag around his neck. After a brief ceremony reviewing the presidential honor guard and listening to the national anthems for both countries, Ahmadinejad and Morales departed for a private meeting at the presidential palace.
Ahmadinejad has made several trips to Latin America in recent years. He visited Venezuela, Nicaragua, Ecuador and Cuba in January, and was last in Bolivia in 2009.
In 2010, Morales met with Ahmadinejad in Iran.
After his visit to Brazil for the Rio+20 summit, Ahmadinejad is scheduled to head to Venezuela, where he is expected to meet with ally President Hugo Chavez.
