I'll Have Another will run in the Belmont Stakes on Saturday. Trainer Doug O'Neill and jockey Mario Gutierrez hope the chestnut colt will be the first Triple Crown winner since 1978.

I'll Have Another will start the clear favorite, having already won Grade 1 races the Santa Anita Derby, the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness. Plenty of horses have won the first two legs of the Triple Crown. The last was Big Brown in 2008.

But no horse has won the elusive Triple Crown since Affirmed in 1978. Others to do so include Seattle Slew in 1977 and Secretariat in 1973.

Although the I'll Have Another is a short-priced favorite at 4-5, its chances are longer than odds might suggest. Other entrants such as Dullahan at 5-1 odds are fresher, having skipped the Preakness.

In addition, I'll Have Another has drawn Gate 11, far from the rail. Gate 11 has produced just two winners from that post since 1905. Meanwhile, Gate 1 has produced 23 winners, while Gate 3 and Gate 5 have produced 14 winners a piece. Dullahan has drawn Gate 5.

A win for I'll Have Another would also increase scrutiny of trainer Doug O'Neill, who has multiple violations and is suspected of 'milkshaking' four other horses.
