Zimmerman returns to jail

Trayvon Martin shooter George Zimmerman is back in jail ---- he turned himself into the authorities just an hour before a court imposed deadline.

Seminole County Sheriff Donald Eslinger.

SOUNDBITE: Donald Eslinger, Seminole County Sheriff, Saying:

"At approximately 1:25 today (1725 GMT) George Zimmerman met two members of the Sheriff's office in the area of Lake Mary and I-4, was placed into custody, transported to the correctional facility. He is being booked and processed as per Judge Lester's order. He'll be held on a no-bond status."

Last week, a judge revoked Zimmerman's $150,000 bond, citing concerns Zimmerman misled the court about his finances. The twenty-eight year old former neighborhood watch volunteer reportedly did not disclose money donated for his legal defense from an internet site. He also failed to surrender both of his passports to authorities.

His attorney Mark O'Mara characterized Zimmerman as "frustrated" by the turn of events.

SOUNDBITE: George Zimmerman's attorney Mark O'Mara saying:

"He's solemn, obviously. He's worried continually about his safety. Having to come out of hiding is a concern of his, but I think he also realizes the Judge's concerns. Now that we have all had on the defense team a chance to look at all of the evidence, he understands the Court's concerns, he understands the state's concerns and we're going to address those, and say what I think needs to be said to address them with Judge Lester."

Zimmerman's return to jail is the latest twist in a murder case that has captured global media attention and sparked widespread debate in the U.S. over guns, self-defense laws and race relations.
