France "delivers what the Afghan people want"

Afghanistan is hosting its first international conference in more than 30 years with officials from more than 60 countries.

The aim of the meeting in Kabul, the capital, is to help the Afghan government become more independent from foreign forces and build a brighter future for the country.

Bernard Kouchner, the French foreign minister, is among those officials attending the conference.

In an interview with Al Jazeera's James Bays, Kouchner said that his country is in Afghanistan to deliver none other than what the Afghan people want.
