Iceland volcano continues eruptions

The ash cloud from a volcano in southern Iceland has held European skies hostage, grounding thousands of flights and leaving millions of passengers stranded for nearly a week.

For the first time in days the southern skies off the coast of Iceland is free of ash.

Experts say much less ash is coming out of the crater and much more lava is now flowing from the volcano, but it remains unpredictable.

Al Jazeera's David Chater reports from near the erupting volcano at Eyjafjallajokull. (Apr 21, 2010)
