Unidentified assailants opened fire on a van carrying Al Jazeera Arabic personnel on Saturday, killing 56-year-old cameraman Ali Hassan al-Jaber and wounding another man. The attack occurred at around 4:30 pm as the team was returning from filming an opposition protest outside of Benghazi, Libya's second-largest city.

A crowd gathered in the city's main square to honor al-Jaber, a Qatari national. They waved Qatari flags and chanted slogans in support of Al Jazeera, such as "with our soul, our blood, we'll defend Al Jazeera."
