Elton John has been forced to cancel performances of his "The Million Dollar Piano" show at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The singer said he developed a serious respiratory illness and had to be hospitalized. Doctors gave him antibiotics and told him not to perform for a week. He is expected to be fine and tickets for the canceled shows will be refunded.

Phillip Phillips won "American Idol," beating ballad singer Jessica Sanchez in the public vote, becoming the fifth male singer in a row to take the title and a guaranteed recording contract. The 21-year old suffered health issues throughout the talent contest and said he was humbled and surprised by his win - and even fought back tears as he performed his final song.

Sharon Stone is being sued by a former nanny, who claims the actress repeatedly insulted her Filipino heritage and fired her after discovering she had been paid overtime. The woman says Stone insulted her accent, her religion and other aspects of her culture in the final months of her employment. No word yet from Stone's camp about the validity of the suit.

Finally, Nicole Kidman made an appearance at the Cannes Film Festival to promote her new film, "The Paperboy," in which she plays a trailer-trash bombshell obsessed with a man on death row. Co-star Zac Efron was also on hand, greeting fans and signing autographs.
