At a time when the nation is debating revocation of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from certain regions, the Jharkhand CRPF Chief, Inspector General (Operations) D K Pandey, has demanded AFSPA cover for CRPF men conducting Anti-Maoist operations. This is the first time that a security force deployed in Maoist-affected states has demanded such a cover. The demand comes at a time when the continuance of AFSPA in Jammu and Kashmir and the North East is being debated.
