The Chinese regime is dismissing claims by the Dalai Lama that women were sent to poison him. The Dalai Lama made the comments in an interview with a UK newspaper, but admitted he couldn't verify the accuracy of the information.

The Chinese regime has shunned claims by the Dalai Lama that they sent women to poison him.

In an interview with the UK's Telegraph newspaper, the Dalai Lama said he had received information that Chinese authorities had sent the women pretending to seek his blessing. He said the women supposedly had poisoned hair and scarves. When he would touch them to give a blessing, it would poison him.

At a press conference on Monday, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hong Lei accused the Dalai Lama of "spreading untrue remarks" and "deceiving and misleading the world."

The Dalai Lama had himself admitted in the original interview that he didn't know whether the information was 100% correct or not, stating "there is no possibility to cross check."

At the Monday press conference the Chinese regime's spokesperson accused the Dalai Lama of carrying out "separatist activities."

Tibet was incorporated into the People's Republic of China in 1950, the invasion led to the destruction of thousands of religious sites. In 1959 an uprising against Chinese rule led to the Dalai Lama fleeing to exile in India. The Dalai Lama now calls for autonomy and religious freedom in Tibet, without demanding formal independence.
