US lawyers to appeal Abu Ghraib sentence - 03 May 09

Recently released declassified memos have confirmed that US defence officials approved 15 interrogation techniques for use on prisoners in Afghanistan and Iraq, even though they were regarded as illegal under the military's code of justice.

Now, lawyers for a US soldier convicted of abusing detainees at Iraq's Abu Ghraib prison, say the memos give them ammunition to appeal. Al Jazeera's Tom Ackerman reports from Washington.
