Masking is a very important step in the process of painting a car. You basically have 2 options.

1. You can leave most of the parts on the car such as the headlights, taillights, windows, mirrors and mask them up like most body shops do if they're working on a averaged priced paint job or frankly too lazy or don't care to take the parts out.

In this business there are many different type of guys to please... some want the MACCO job, some want a better job and others what the best they can get. Those who want the best pay for it.

2. Your second option is: If you're doing a complete restoration, or just want to do a good job... you can go all out and completely strip the car so you have little or no masking to deal with. This is the way to do it if you want a PRO finish paint job. You'll also be able to charge top dollar to complete these kinds of jobs for customers.
