The Neon Knights originated from Ballyshannon Pop-Rock covers band 'The Jetzons', who formed the weekend after their final leaving cert exam. With a keen interest in playing original material, 'The Jetzons' achieved considerable success on the local pub circuit for nearly three years. 'The Jetzons' also played in numerous venues around the country including shows in Dublins Eamonn Dorans and The Voodoo Lounge. In their hometown the group also supported such big names as Director, The Blizzards, The Flaws, The Delorentos, The Immedeiate, and The Frank and Walters and also played three sets at the 2007 Rory Gallagher International Tribute festival.
The Jetzons soon parted ways with their singer but the main songwriter in the group Marc Mc Menamin continued to write music along with drummer Johnny Keenaghan and Guitarist/Pianist Turlough Mc Intyre. Enter singer songwriter Stephen Dedalus. Stephen is a member of one of the most famous musical families in Donegal. Stephen is a highly accomplished musician having played in many rock groups in his local area such as Skitzo Watershed and Poindexter. Stephen has also supported such big names such as Aslan and Republic of Loose. In his spare time he runs a recording studio with his father.
Since the groups first gig, over a year ago, in Bundorans Chasin Bull voted best music venue in Ulster, The Neon Knights have literally exploded onto the local music in Donegal and the North West of Ireland. Being self managed they have still broken into some of the biggest name venues in the country and the reaction to the band in the local media has been hugely positive. Consisting of four experienced musicians, the cover band based out of Donegal, have been performing at some of Irelands highest profile venues, headlining and also sharing stages with some top name chart acts such as The Corona's, Director, The Blizzards, The Flaws, The Delorentos, The Immediate, and The Frank and Walters. The Neon Knights put extraordinary energy into their stage performance but also into their show production as a whole. The ability to cater for any occassion has seen The Neon Knights build up an enviable following of supporters and their constant interaction with these loyal friends has seen their popularity and profile blossom.
The Neon Knights never fail to get the party started, raise the roof and then bring the house down. Fully focused on entertaining, the crowd interaction and participation is second to none, energetically covering to perfection the latest hits, older classics and then interjecting their own songs into the show sets them apart from the pack.
They cover classics from the seventies, eighties, nineties and present day hits, playing a wide array of covers from artists as diverse as The Who, Talking Heads, Elvis, The Beatles, Johnny Cash, Status Quo and John Fogerty to contempory groups such as the Kings of Leon, The Arcade Fire, Vampire Weekend, MGMT, and The Strokes, making them strong candidates for any occasion and are now catering for Weddings and Corporate Functions, Graduations and Festivals........
