Dozens of monitors leave Syria

Arab League observers from the Gulf states board a bus in Damascus.
Monitors from Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain have already left and those from other Gulf states were expected to leave the Syrian capital soon.
The Gulf Cooperation Council recalled its monitors after President Bashar al-Assad dismissed another league plan to surrender power.
The country is in the midst of a bloody crackdown on anti-government protesters seeking to end al-Assad's rule.
Thousands have died in the clashes, prompting Arab countries to try and broker peace between the two sides.
The remaining monitors will stay in Syria for another month and report back to the Arab League end of February.
