Israeli Goalkeeper says no to playing on Yom Kippur

Israel's national soccer team goalkeeper has missed his teams home game against Osasuna that was played on the sabbath of Yom Kippur. The game ws arranged to kick off 18 minutes before the end of the fast in Spain at 6pm. His club Mallorca accepted his request and coped without him in their third game of the season beating Osasuna 2-0. Awatt made the request that he did not want to play on the Sabbath of Yom Kippur. He said he was not prepared to break his tradition to play the game and play during Yom Kippur. Awatt has been an excellent player for Majorca so far keeping a 0 -0 draw against Real Madrid in their opening game of the season, they lost their second game 2-0 to Sporting Lisbon.
