At least nine dead after Israel storms pro-Palestinian activist convoy

Nine people, mostly thought to be Turkish activists, were killed after Israeli commandos stormed the lead ship of an aid convoy heading to the Gaza Strip. The deaths occurred after Israeli troops rappelled onto the Mavi Marmara in a pre-dawn attempt to halt the convoy in international waters. The international community has roundly condemned Israel over the deaths and called for a lifting of the blockade on Gaza. The Israeli Self Defense Force has released video of what it claims to show the activists attacking troops with sticks and other weapons as they landed on the ship and said it acted in self defense.
