Adolphe Menjou - Two White Arms
This is one of the rarest sides ever made in history; in fact it is the first but also last one waxed by actor Adolphe Menjou (1890-1963). It features the theme song of an equally obscure film, Two White Arms (aka Wives Beware), a 1932 British comedy of which I found no posters or stills. I even suspect it might be lost. By lack of pictures about the film, I added an array of other Adolphe Menjou sheet music, posters, lobby cards and stills, especially a choice of pictures about two comedies starring Adolphe Menjou and Louise Brooks: 'Evening Clothes' and 'A Social Celebrity', two films that are also presumed lost. Viewers, please check your attics and basements! For this 1932 theme record, Menjou was to be found only one single time in the recording studio, since the actor obviously sounds incomfortable in this performance. Still, since it is the only recording of an unmistakably beautiful song, I share it. The band was not credited, but actually is the Carroll Gibbons Orchestra.
