Striking Chinese workers scuffle with police

Fighting to save their jobs, Chinese workers scuffle with police outside a Shanghai factory.
Mobile phone footage captures police removing some of the workers.
More than 200 employees are on strike over what they say is a plan to move the electronics plant and layoff workers.
Heavy machinery could be seen being removed from the plant Tuesday.
(SOUNDBITE) (Mandarin) UNIDENTIFIED FACTORY WORKER SAYING:
"They had promised us that they would not move the factory equipment away if there was no agreement between the workers and the factory. Now we have no way to stop the police. The police have set up a cordon and we cannot go inside. Our workers knelt down in front of the factory gate and police arrested them."
Workers are also petitioning authorities to intervene.
The factory is owned by Singapore's Hi-P international and makes electronics for Apple and other companies.
The firm earlier denied any layoffs, saying it was in talks "with the support of the authorities and the labour union."
