Rival militias wage turf war outside of Tripoli

Hundreds gathered in the Libyan town of Janzour to honor a local official killed in clashes between rival groups. Mourners wept openly and some fired into the air as his casket was lowered.
Locals have blamed the incident on Zintan fighters whose headquarters inside this building came under attack just days later.
The violence in a town just ten miles west of Tripoli is evidence of the threat militias pose to the country's still shaky security. Last month, rival fighters attacked each other with rockets, mortars and machine guns in four days of fighting.
Earlier in the week, the United Nations identified militia groups as the greatest concern to efforts to re-build Libya.
