Murray sentenced to 4 years in prison

Michael Jackson's personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, was sentenced to four years in jail on Tuesday (November 29) and denied probation for his conviction on a charge of involuntary manslaughter in the pop star's death.
In handing down the maximum sentence, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor said Murray had woefully breached medical and financial ethics.
SOUNDBITE: Judge Michael Pastor, saying (English):
"Dr. Murray was intrigued by the prospect, and he engaged in this money-for-medicine madness that is simply not going to be tolerated by me."
Murray sat emotionless throughout much of his sentencing in the trial that captured the world's attention, but just before he was led out of the courtroom, he blew kisses at a woman who shouted "we love you."
Several of Jackson's family members were on hand for the sentencing. Michael's mother Katherine was content with the decision.

"I said, four years won't bring my son back, but that's the law, so the judge gave him the maximum, so I thank the judge, and I thank the prosecutors, and I think everything went well."
Murray was ordered to pay court fees, and another hearing was set for prosecution claims that he may owe more than $100 million in restitution to Jackson's family.
