ROUGH CUT - NO REPORTER NARRATION
Riot police and protesters clash in central Cairo on Saturday (November 19) a few hours after forces cleared a sit-in against military rule in Tahrir square.
After a Friday rally of some 50,000 people, around a hundred had stayed in the square overnight.
But on Saturday, police pulled down tents and confiscated chairs and banners they had set up, witnesses said. Some minor scuffles occurred.
In the streets around, police fired tear gas at protesters who retaliated by throwing rocks.
Friday's protest was aimed at pressing Egypt's military rulers to transfer power to elected civilians after the cabinet launched a move to exempt the army from parliamentary oversight.
