"Home Away from Home - The Turkish-German Guest Worker Treaty": Integration Successes and Failures | People & Politics

In Marxloh, a suburb of the western German city of Duisburg, two-thirds of people have non-German roots - the majority is of Turkish origin. The city is home to Germany's largest mosque and the streets are dominated by Turkish shops. Many believe that integration here has failed and that Marxloh has almost become a separate society. But there are constant efforts to bring the remaining Germans and the immigrants together.
