Preparing for Behavioral Interviews - Interview Tips - as part of the expert series by GeoBeats. Hi, I am Robyn Feldberg of Abundant Success Career Services. Often today, employers are conducting behavioral based interviews. This can be a daunting prospect for alot of candidates. So if you are one of the people who gets nervous about behavior based interviews here is what I recommend you do: Begin by looking carefully at the job description for the job that you are going to be interviewing for, review the competencies that they are going to be looking for, and then write up 10-12 stories using the "Challenge Action Result Formula." The acronym for that you may have heard is called a CAR story, Challenge Action Result. So we will have a few sentences to define the challenge that you faced on the job, the actions that you took to address that challenge and the results that you were able to achieve for your employer. Rehearse those success stories, rather than trying to memorize answers to all of the possible behavior based questions that you might be asked. Then try to weave those success stories into your answers during the interview. As far as how many times you need to rehearse them I would say that is really dependent on at what point you feel comfortable. So when you feel you have got that answer nice and tight and you feel comfortable with it then it is probably time to move on to the next one.
