Notre Dame Hotel situated in the heart of Jerusalem, next to the old city walls and New Gate. The hotel's location is in a walking distance from both Jerusalem old city which is accross the street and from the center of the new city.
The Notre Dame hotel was built in 1885, sponsored and populated by French pilgrims. Designed according to Abbé Brisacier’s building plan, combining architectural elegance and an Arabesque influence.
Until the First World War, the Notre Dame served as a seminary for future Assumptions. After the Second World War, in 1948, the building was heavily damaged during the regional war. The reconstruction of the Notre Dame hotel was managed by Pope John Paul II who established the Notre Dame reputation as a unique ecumenical holy place.
