Ancient Dinosaur Skeletons on Pre-auction Display in Paris

Dinosaur skeletons never seem to lose their appeal, and that may be why Sotheby's Auction house has taken an interest in them. Currently on display in Paris, several dinosaurs dating up to 200 million years old will go under the hammer in October.
Dinosaur skeletons, hundreds of millions of years old, were dusted off in Paris on Monday ahead of an exhibition early next week.
These remants from the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods will join other dinosaur artefacts on display.
The items will be exhibited until mid-September and will eventually go under the hammer in Paris in October.
One of the pieces is a mummified dinosaur with parts of the skin intact and is expected to fetch up to one-and-a-half million euros.
Sotheby's Consultant for natural history, Eric Mickeler, says the creatures jumped from prehistory straight into pop culture.
[Erick Mickeler, Sotheby's Consulatant for Natural History]:
"You are going to have a large Diplodocus, which we also see in Walt Disney films. You are going to have a dinosaur mummy, which is a jewel. It is practically the Mona Lisa of dinosaurs. It's a dinosaur with its skin. We manage to see the scales of the creature. And that's amazing."
The long-necked dinosaur, which is also expected to fetch more than one million euros, will be joined by another Cretaceous critter, the Triceratops.
For young Victor Denaeyer, sharing a moment with the gigantic relics is a precious moment.

"That's why I like it. It's the first time I see such a big skull up close. It's always fun to go."
