Django’s Legacy - Robin Nolan Gypsy Jazz Burning Ballads

http://www.BurningBallads.com The Django Reinhardt festival in Samois Sur Seine is where I fell in love with Gypsy Jazz back in 1990 when I went for the first time with my father and a couple of guitars. The romance of Django’s music and people was intoxicating and it changed my life forever.
In this video lesson I teach you the beautiful chord sequence from Babik Reinhardt’s composition ‘Mirroirs’ which was featured in the film ‘Django’s Legacy’ an inspiration to us all.
Firstly we look at the traditional minor descending pattern, which is very common, and learn the fingerings in E minor. Then we look at another inversion of E minor with the 6th in the bass, which sounds great as the tonic E descends from the top.
Lastly we hip it up with the way Babik Reinhardt did using the minor/major chord to start.
The harmonies sound rich and it’s important to caress the strings to bring the full beauty out.
