Assad seeks 'national dialogue' as Syria protests continue

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad Wednesday launched a "national dialogue" while freeing hundreds of political prisoners in an amnesty opposition groups and Washington say does not go far enough. Rights groups say at least 1100 people have died, with a further 10000 arrested, since pro-democracy protests began in mid-March.
