4.2.10 Describe the structure of and bonding in silicon and silicon oxide IB Chemistry

Both are macromolecules (giant covalent structures) with many strong valence bonds. Si has the same agreement of atoms arsenic diamond, and Si dioxide (sand) is the same as silicon - just popular an O atom betwixt all silicon pair. Since location ar no delocalised electrons, both chemicals are electrical insulators. (HL only : all atoms are sp3 hybridised)
