Indonesian Police Investigated for Attacking Reporters at Falun Gong Parade

Police in northern Indonesia are under investigation for assaulting journalists who were covering a parade on Saturday. Police allegedly attacked four reporters while stopping a local Falun Gong parade. Here's more.
It was meant to be a day of celebration. But practitioners of the Falun Gong spiritual practice in Indonesia's northern Surabaya city became a target of police brutality last Saturday. Local police broke up a parade, and in the process attacked four reporters covering the event. Now 21 police are under investigation, the Jakarta Times reported on Tuesday.
Our own photographer Eko Oscar Nugroho was one of the four journalists assaulted by police. His footage shows police dragging a Falun Gong practitioner into a police vehicle. One policeman starts to attack him. Police then tried to stop the cameras from rolling. Later, another parade participant is seen visibly shaken, with obvious injuries to his face.
This reporter from a local TV station was also injured by police.
[Lukman Rozak, Trans 7-TV Reporter]:
"Then I heard somebody shout, 'Reporters close all cameras, reporters close all cameras!' And then suddenly, my hand holding the camera was hit, of course, I tried to shake free. Some policemen beat me, kicking and hitting me. Although my camera is fine, I feel they have disturbed my work, so I ignored them. I am going to sue them, I don't accept this."
About 300 people from around Indonesia, as well as Taiwan and Singapore had come to participate in the parade. They wanted to celebrate World Falun Dafa Day, as well as the anniversary of Surabaya city.
Police reportedly stopped the parade because there was no proper permit. But parade organizers say they had already obtained one from local police.
