Mexico announces the arrest of two men suspected of killing a poet's son. The incident has sparked national calls for action.

Mexican police on Monday (May 02) announced they had arrested two men in the killing of the son of Mexican poet Javier Sicilia.

Police paraded suspects Jesus Cardenas and Cesar Galindo in front of journalists in Mexico City, also showing off seized weapons.

In late March, police found the bodies of 24-year-old Juan Francisco Sicilia, son writer Javier Sicilia, and several of his friends in a car in the town of Cuernavaca, along with a menacing message from drug cartels.

Renowned as a peaceful colonial-era jewel south of Mexico City where young couples go to marry, Cuernavaca became a hotbed of protests after Sicilia's son's death.

Thousands visited shrines for Sicilia and the other victims of the attack while demonstrations spread across Mexico.
