Located in a monastic complex in Ohrid, Macedonia is the Byzantine Saint Panteleimon Monastery.

The monastery is said to have been built by Saint Clement of Ohrid sometime around the late 9th century in honor of Saint Panteleimon.

Panteleimon was martyred by Emperor Maximilian when the ruler condemned him for curing the sick through questionable practices.

The monastery is bedecked with colorful and intricate mosaics, which proclaim its importance and beauty to all who visit.

Saint Clement himself constructed the monasteries crypt in which he was later entombed.

Upon its completion, this stunning, longstanding, and holy structure was used as a liturgical building and school for the teachings of the Cyrillic alphabet.
