They may be banned from fighting on the front line in Afghanistan, but teams of female troops are battling for the hearts and minds of Afghans, while their male counterparts take on the Taliban. More than 40 female US Marines have volunteered to be stationed in volatile Helmand and Nimroz provinces, dodging bullets and explosives as part of their mission to convince locals to turn their backs on insurgents.
