Volcom - PBRJ Austria 2011 #2
Volcom PBRJ Innsbruck/ AT#2 Early in the morning we arrived at the Nordkettenbahn for going up to the top and setting up the installation for the upcoming VolCom PBRJ tour stop. On top we met the shaper crew who did a good job during the contest. With the best crew of the whole universe we started the contests at 11 am. Before that, we put on our astronaut suits and helmets to get in the right mood. The kids couldn’t wait till we were prepared, so they did some practice runs for testing the obstacles. First we started with the category 15- and the girls. Even if the Nitro Skyline Park is famous for its halfpipe and its kickers, the kids proved their skills on the setup. Also the girls showed some stylish and save combos. The kids and the girls category were followed by the riders of the category 16+. Finally Lukas Lengle from Augsburg who lives nowadays in Innsbruck won in this category. With innovative combos and various manners of riding the setup he could convince the judges, so that he deserved the first place. Even a hard slam on his face – we could call it faceblunt – couldn’t stop him trying some unseen tricks during the competition. The category 16+ was finally followed by the open division. In this category we had some well-known riders from the other PBRJ stops like Tobias Hartmuth and Florian Heim. All the riders showed good snowboarding and proved that they deserved to compete in the open division category. The spectators could appreciate a lot of different spins on the obstacles, transfers and changes. In the end it was Tobias Hartmuth who won in the open division category. At the Crystal Ground PBRJ tour stop he only made it to the second place, now finally he won in his home resort. All in all it was another great VolCom PBRJ tour stop with fantastic riders and even more fantastic spectators (much respect to the latin lovers!), not to forget the best crew ever. Big thanks to the media team Alex Pfeffer and Simpert Hafenmeier, to the judges Jens Hennefarth, Felix Pfleiderer and Holger Mertn, the man behind the scene Klemens König, as well as the barbecue chef Benedikt Walk. We would also like to thank our friends from the industry: Electric, Nitro, Vans, seventyone percent and go-shred.com.
