Actress and United Nations Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie tours a refugee camp outside Libya and offers hope to thousands of people who have fled into Tunisia. Jolie says more can be done to distribute urgent assistance, including food and medical supplies.
On Tuesday, actress and United Nations Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie appealed for international support for the people fleeing conflict in Libya. She also called for increased aid for those inside the country.
Speaking from the Libyan-Tunisian border Jolie says recent arrivals from Libya told her about heavy fighting, harassment and assaults.
More than 400,000 people have fled Libya to Tunisia, Egypt, Niger, Algeria, Chad and Sudan since February when rebels rose up against Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.
More than half have arrived in Tunisia.

"It is an extraordinary time when people across North Africa and the Middle East have been breaking down the wall of silence and fear."
Jolie also appealed for measures that would allow the UN and non-governmental organizations to access Libya and distribute urgent assistance, including food and medical supplies.

"They've all come so far. So many of the people here have been, this is their second time being displaced. Their second or third time as refugees."
More than 70,000 people have returned home with the help of the UNHCR - the UN Refugee Agency, and the International Organization for Migration, but thousands more continue to arrive.
