Tiananmen Square does not exactly conjure up images of freedom, but it's where a new exhibition, in cooperation with Germany, on the 'Art of Enlightenment' has been set up. It's an attempt to bring the ideas of Europe's 18th-century Age of Reason to the Chinese people.
