In the land of India lies a city of resplendent architecture and history.

Fatehpur Sikri was the dream of one of the most prominent Mughal rulers in India, Emperor Akbar.

Built in the mid 16th century, this city was made the capital of the Mughal domain, from 1571 to 1585.

Soon after, the town was vacated because it was incapable of supporting its multiplying population; as a result it became a ghost town.

The buildings on the present day site were predominantly built with red sandstone and were an amalgam of Indian, Jain and Muslim architecture.

What now remain are the grand structures, palaces, mosques, and courtyards which were once alive with human presence.
