Steve Jones to host X Factor US?

It seems Dermot O'Leary is not the only British presenter being considered to host The X Factor US.

Former T4 presenter, Steve Jones, has confirmed he is also in the running for the prestigious job, worth an estimated £1.25million.

Speaking to the Sun newspaper, the 33-year-old Welshman said: "I'm hearing good things. I don't want to jinx anything by thinking I've got it. One day I hear it's going my way, one day I'm less sure. I'd love to do it, I really would."

Meanwhile Dermot O'Leary, who has hosted the British version of the reality show for three years, is clearly keen to land the position on the US counterpart.

Dermot recently told the Daily Mail: "Have I got it? I still don't know. I've thrown my hat in the ring. I've been over, had a few meetings. I've sat down with Simon. I've made a pitch, but to be honest there's not a lot more I can do.

"It's all a bit odd. I didn't do any screen tests, which would be normal, because I'm already doing the job here, and they can see exactly what they'd be getting. Now I just have to wait."

However, there is speculation that both Dermot and Steve could miss out on the job to a US host.

It comes after reports Cheryl Cole may also not end up being involved as bosses are keen to get high profile American celebrities on the bill instead.
