A good swell arrived at Waimea Bay on January 20th, 2011. But George Downing, Contest Director of The Quiksilver In Memory of Eddie Aikau, Fueled by Monster Energy, called a "NO GO" for competition, based upon the inconsistency of the swell. While there were definitely 20 to 25 foot waves sporadically throughout the morning, the consistency of those large waves was deemed to be insufficient to run the two rounds of competition. it was big, but not an Eddie day.
