Nigeria’s ex-military ruler Buhari is nominated as a presidential candidate by the opposition party. It will be a tough battle for Buhari as he competes for the presidential seat in April's election.
Nigeria's former military head of state Mohammadu Buhari has been declared Presidential candidate by the opposition Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) party on Tuesday.
In his nomination acceptance speech in Abuja, Buhari says he is the candidate who offers change.

"Our job today is to resolve to defeat the PDP in all the elections coming up shortly. After a dozen years of bad governance Nigerians deserve a change. We are offering the change."
Buhari faces a tough challenge, with Nigerian presidential politics dominated by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Buhari has developed a reputation as an anti-corruption figure, but was also accused of human rights violations following a coup on New Year's Eve in 1983.
Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan is waging a tough battle ahead of the presidential primaries in two weeks time. The outcome will have far-reaching consequences, from security in the Niger Delta to the passage of legislation to overhaul the oil industry, as well as multi-billion dollar plans to privatize the power sector.
The electoral commission has set presidential elections for April 9, 2011, with parliamentary polls a week before and state governorship elections a week after.
