Also at the show in San Fransisco was a person with more than 30 years of experience in the arts. Here's that report.

And over the weekend Shen Yun will be performing in the U.S. city of Seattle through Saturday, and in Kichener-Waterloo in Canada Saturday through Tuesday. More info about the show and tour at www.shenyunperformingarts.org.

On Wednesday, Shen Yun Performing Arts held two shows in San Francisco. Claire Wahrhaftig, a former Executive Director of the San Francisco Arts Commission, was in the audience.

[Claire Wahrhaftig, Retired Arts Commissioner]:
"I loved the show...and it's incredibly beautiful. And stylized and yet human. I like the fact that the colors used in the costuming were so unique, not at all like color combinations we use. I was fascinated with each change of scene. I said this is so creative and I thought it was marvelous. And the projections are spectacularly successful."

Mrs. Wahrhaftig has over 30 years of experience as an arts educator. After watching the show, she says she has a new appreciation for classical Chinese dance.

[Claire Wahrhaftig, Retired Arts Commissioner]:
"I think I have a new appreciation of this whole art form. I had no idea that there was this kind of dancing."

Mrs. Wahrhaftig grew up attending shows at the San Francisco Opera House. But this was her first time watching Shen Yun.

[Claire Wahrhaftig, Retired Arts Commissioner]:
"I am very excited to have had a chance. I feel like I spent the last two hours in another world."

She encourages others to see the show as well.

[Claire Wahrhaftig, Retired Arts Commissioner]:
"Come and see it. It's a new experience. You will find that it will transform your feeling about Chinese culture."
