Oscar-winning actor Jeff Bridges returns to the big screen in a new Coen Brothers film adaptation, True Grit.

The story, which is based on the Charles Portis' 1968 novel of the same title, sees Bridges as U.S. Marshal Reuben J. "Rooster" Cogburn, who helps a stubborn young woman track down her father's murderer.

It is not the first time Bridges has worked with siblings Ethan and Joel Coen, he also starred in The Big Lebowski and admits he admires their work.

"One of the things that they have done and I think is so wise, is that they've surrounded themselves with these great artists that they've worked with over and over again.

"Roger Deakins, the cinematographer on "True Grit" was also the guy who shot "The Big Lebowski" and a dozen other films that the Coens have made."

In the 1969 film adaptation of the novel, legendary actor John Wayne starred as Cogburn.

When audiences see the film 42 years later, the lead is taken over by Jeff Bridges and also stars Josh Brolin, Matt Damon and newcomer Hailee Steinfeld.

True Grit is released in UK cinemas from 11 February 2011.
