History : Archie Shepp played for the first time with Maâlem Abdellah El Gourd at Essaouira Festival in 1999 in Morocco. Gnawas of Morocco are descendants of slaves and civil servants of the Arab empire that were brought to Northwest Africa since the twelfth century.
