A suicide bomber along with a group of militants attacked police headquarters in the town of Swabi on Monday.

The suicide bomber blew himself up, killing two policemen as they tried to stop him. Six others were wounded in the attack.

Around 20 to 25 policemen were on duty at the time of attack.

Armed militants also exchanged gunfire with police and fled the scene.

The U.S.-backed Pakistani government is battling Taliban insurgents who remain effective, despite military crackdowns on their strongholds in the northwest near the Afghan border.
