Landslides and Floods Kill at Least 22 in Southwest China

At least six people have died by Thursday afternoon and 86 others remained missing after a landslide leveled Puladi village in Yunnan Province.
The landslide is the latest in a slew of natural disasters that have struck China this summer after torrential downpours unleashed floods and dislodged hillsides.
In the worst landslide, at least 1,287 people died in Zhouqu and more than 450 are missing, feared dead.
At least ten mine trucks and 21 houses were buried.
Storms in neighboring Sichuan Province to the north killed at least 16 people, and affected the lives of over five million.
Floods triggered by heavy rainfall have cut off roads and communication in some parts of the province.
In Guanghan City, two train carriages plunged into a river after floods destroyed a section of rail bridge.
At least another 1,000 people have died in floods in central, southern and northeast China so far this year.
