"Two people came from the front and another two climbed the vehicle from both sides and pointed guns at us. They told us to stop the truck. We resisted but they did not listen. When we asked why they were burning the truck, they hit us."

The Maoists are described by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as the country's biggest internal security threat.

They have spread into rural pockets in 20 of India's 28 states and they carried out over 1,000 attacks last year, killing more than 600 people.
