Brad Pitt attends Kick-Ass premiere

Film fans in London's Leicester Square were treated to Hollywood royalty on Monday night. Brad Pitt graced the red carpet for the European premiere of Kick-Ass.

The A-lister, who worked as a producer on the movie, did his best to avoid the press. He signed a host of autographs and did a quick interview before heading inside the Empire cinema.

The action feature is based on the comics by Mark Millar, who was also behind Wanted. Getting Brad's seal of approval apparently gave the movie an extra boost.

"The good thing about Brad is that he's known around Hollywood for having good taste. I don't mean that as a big headed thing," said Mark.

He added: "His rep is that he only gets involved with things that are new and interesting. So what that brought us was instant credibility, when you were walking into meetings everyone took you seriously."

Critics have claimed the film is set to shake up the comic book genre. It follows, teenager Dave Lizewski, who decides to become a superhero, even though he does not possess any powers. British actor Aaron Johnson honed his American accent to play him.

He said: "It's a post-modern superhero film, it's original, it's taking all those moments and putting a twist on them. It's a dark comedy."

Kick-Ass is released in the UK on March 31.
