Thai Scientists Discover Unique Elephant Stride

Scientists here have been putting elephants through their paces.

They say elephants walk with their hind legs and run with their front legs at the same time.

To test the elephants they made a special platform with micro-controllers.

The elephants went as fast as 11 miles an hour, showing that they do in fact run.

But then the scientists also found out that elephants never lift all four feet off the ground at the same time. Which shows that they also walk.

What this means is that elephants both walk and run at the same time.

Scientists say this new research could help them understand how dinosaurs got around.
