German Carmakers Launch New Models in India

German carmakers Audi, BMW and Skoda launched dazzling new models at this week’s New Delhi Autoexpo, an annual automobile exhibition in the Indian capital.
Audi announced the release of the A7 Sportback and says the new model will hit Indian shores by 2011.
Audi also announced a price-cut in one of Audi's most popular models, the A6, to celebrate Audi's 100th year in business.
[Stefan Hamberger, Audi Spokesman]:
"I'm pleased to announce today that to celebrate 100 years of Audi, we launched, starting today, a limited edition of the Audi A6 2.7 TDI for 31 lakhs ($67,100) on road."
Czech Republic-based carmaker, Skoda, a subsidiary of German auto-giant Volkswagen, unveiled the highly popular SUV, the Yeti.
Other models on display by Skoda were the Fabia Elegance and a top-of-the-line Superb, boasting a 3.6 liter V6 engine, four-wheel-drive, and a seven-speed transmission.
Board members of Skoda Auto say they’re confident of maintaining their niche (pron nich) in Indian markets.

"We are on the road to meet customer expectations of the car and relying on future as well. So this will be obviously one of the reasons that we are here, hitting directly at the…of the market."
The show-stealer, however, was the BMW display, showcasing the X1 SUV, scheduled for launch in India by the end of 2010, and the Z4 convertible.
BMW announced the release of the X6 M, and the seven-series model, BMW 760 Li.
BMW also launched the limited edition new Gran Turismo in New Delhi. Only 100 models will be released in India.
