Slovakia has withstood the financial crisis relatively well. The country even joined the exclusive Eurozone at the beginning of the year. Yet,the European mood hasn't quite reached the population yet. The last EU elections saw just 16 per cent of the population participate - the lowest in the whole of the EU. That might be because some provincial right-wing mayors fuel resentment towards the Roma community,Hungarians and other foreigners.
