00:00After the consultation with the Rice Retailer Representative in Metro Manila,

00:05the officials of the Department of Agriculture visited their families to find out the current price of rice.

00:13The DA's observation was found out in the center of the news by Noel Talacay live.

00:21Angelica, according to the Department of Agriculture or DA,

00:25from this day forward, our countrymen should be able to buy rice worth Php 41 to Php 45 per kilo.

00:35That's why earlier this morning, their DA officials visited the area to find out the current price of rice.

00:51from the Department of Agriculture visited the market in Metro Manila.

01:00implementing the Php 41 to Php 45 price of a kilo of regular and well-milled rice.

01:08After consultation with the Rice Retailers of Metro Manila and DA,

01:13in addition to selling a cheap kilo of rice,

01:16Earlier this morning, Asec De Mesa and Asec Guevara visited the Murphy Public Market,

01:22Q Mart Public Market, and Kamuning Public Market.

01:25Although there was no Php 41 per kilo of rice,

01:29there is more rice that is Php 42 to Php 45 per kilo of regular and well-milled rice.

01:37The price is still high, which is expected to be the price of rice.

01:41According to the DA, additional Php 3 to Php 5 should be added to the price of regular and well-milled rice from its suppliers.

01:51This is what the Rice Retailers of Metro Manila agreed to.

01:58We can see that they are selling Php 42 to Php 45, both local and imported.

02:03Although most of them are still local, most of them are imported to the premium end.

02:12But at least we saw that they are selling Php 42 to Php 45 compliance based on what we discussed.

02:20We can connect with them so that they can buy rice that is not sold by many traders.

02:30According to the DA, this is not a price ceiling for rice.

02:35This is just a minimum and maximum that should be added to the price of rice retailers

02:44based on the price of rice per kilo.

02:49According to the DA, they will regularly monitor and visit their public market in Metro Manila

02:58so that they can make sure that the prices of Php 41 and Php 45 are being followed.

03:10Meanwhile, sugar will not be imported until the middle of 2025.

03:29Rell Jr. said that there is still no need to increase the raw and refined sugar

03:36because its supply is still stable and it meets the projected demand.

03:41Escona also added that the decision for the sugar order can be postponed until the end of May

03:49when it is expected that the harvest season will end.

03:53The official explained that the harvest season did not start right away this year because of El Nino.

04:00Because of this, sugarcane farmers need to delay their harvest

04:04which helps to mature the sugarcane and increase the sugar content of the sugarcane.
