00:00The Senate has approved the budget of the Philippine Statistics Authority, PSA, for 2025.
00:06Before that, the problem was discussed with the pecking birth certificates of foreign nationals.
00:12The Senate also visited some of the national IDs.
00:17We have first news from Bea Pinlac.
00:20Not only the birth certificate of Alice Guo, but more than 1,000 pecking birth certificates of foreign nationals were blocked by the Philippine Statistics Authority.
00:34When the Senate heard about the proposed budget for 2025, the PSA was asked if it would conduct an internal audit of the pecking birth certificates.
00:44That was followed by a series of discussions on Guo's appointment.
00:49According to the PSA, 14.89 million late birth certificate registrations were examined from 2010 to 2024.
00:581,627 pecking birth certificates given to foreign nationals were blocked after the investigation.
01:07But only 1% of those were submitted to the Office of the Solicitor General for cancellation.
01:15The names of foreign nationals were shared to the BI, DFA, and NBI.
01:20Out of those numbers, only 18 were endorsed for cancellation, including Guo Ping.
01:30The people of the government are being investigated for breaching the pecking birth certificate.
01:36The names of those government workers were submitted to the mayor of that town.
01:42But simultaneously, there's also an investigation by the NBI.
01:46Digitalization is one of the reasons why pecking birth certificates are no longer allowed.
01:52But it's not just the pecking birth certificates that are the problem now.
01:56Even the national IDs are mixed up.
01:59According to the PSA, they have already detected 11 spurious national IDs.
02:05We do have cases of fake national IDs.
02:08It's the correct ID, but the information that was supplied for that ID is what's fraudulent.
02:17These were also submitted to the NBI for investigation and to be blocked if necessary.
02:23The 2025 budget of the PSA was approved in the plenary,
02:28which is included in the more than P13 billion budget of the National Economic and Development Authority.
02:33This is the first news.
